Next to the Białowieża Forest, the Carpathian Forest is the most precious natural area of Poland. Unfortunately, year-by-year, further swaths of the forest, which has the characteristics of a natural forest, disappear along with felled ancient trees that had not been planted with a human hand. An ever more complex network of roads is being built to aid logging. So far, the projected Turnica National Park has also not been approved for opening. Ecological organizations, WWF Polska, and The Dziedzictwo Przyrodnicze [Natural Heritage] Foundation have launched the SOS Karpaty [SOS Carpathians] action today, whose aim is to save the Polish part of the Carpathian Mountains. We encourage you to sign an appeal on the following website: karpaty.wwf.pl.
